It's always really difficult to write a review regarding an artsy album full of mystique and intricate concepts; it happened to me when I reviewed The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon The Thaw by Pelican and it happens to me quite often when I write experimental or post-rock evaluations. Somehow it was different with Cult Of Luna, the images and words came to me while I was hearing this album in the most bizarre way you could ever think of. So I'll just start rephrasing all those things traveling in my head right now.

Can't believe this album is almost 6 years old. A must-have for all post/sludge metal fans. I love this album, front to back. Great atmosphere and feeling. Favorite song is "Back to Chapel Town".

Just listened to it for the first time today. Great album.

Favorite songs are easily the last two... Special mention goes to Finland as well.

The songs on this album are clearly very well-written and beautifully structured. 'Finland' builds up very intensely but shows the band's brilliant instrumentation, and 'And with he came the birds' gives the listener a nice albeit melancholic break from the heaviness of the previous track 'Back to chapel town'.

Turns out some guy from the Czech Republic released an all-piano cover version of this album. Awesome stuff.

The 10th anniversary is fast approaching and this masterpiece will be performed in its entirely at Roadburn 2016. Lucky bastards, who manage to see that.

Cult Of Luna is one of those bands that has never really clicked with me, but this album could well be a game changer, it's phenomenal, especially the tracks "Finland" and "Dark City, Dead Man", the way those tracks build up is really something else.

Been neck deep in post-metal lately, many great finds. But returning to CoL and especially this album, they truly are paragons of this genre. Such masterful craftmanship.
