Hmmm, the bass guitar on this album just blows me away, actually the whole damn aura of the album does. A fine way to exit if you ask me. "Hand of the Host" is the best song by Isis; Flame on!

Your recommendation is so important but I think I'll buy it anyway.

Last week i listened to Arcturus "The Sham Mirros", and i was astonished in no time. Such a beautiful music that was. Today i accidently saw Isis somewhere and remmembered how much pain i felt forcing myself listening to this album last year. I was acting according to the rating system of Metal Storm and I was wrong. It was an untolerable music posing as if it had some kind of artistic value. I was mostly offended by their false (sham!) image. Since last week i keep on listening to Arcturus and very much enjoying it. I don't mean to hurt metal lovers like you but i had to say it. Just like Skeletonwitch's first album "Beyond the Permafrost" is much much better than the overrated last album "Forever Abomination", and Be'lakor's first and second album is so gerater than their last album, also which is overrrated by Metal Storm users.

I'm just not quite sure you understand or even like the genre Isis is a part of. It's not the same thing as Arcturus. Arcturus is very easy on the ears with fairly typical song structures. Arcturus comes off on the ears much like a nice coffee with a cream and sugar does the tongue - sweet and satisfying for the moment. Isis is more like a hot black coffee that one comes to find bitter at first but after many drinks he slowly consumes his tongue knows the roast well and finds it superior to the sugary, creamed coffee.

Sounds like the " ponderer" argument to me. "Enslaved are shit because they don't sound like Nevermore"

Yeah, the bands are really apples and oranges when it comes to genre/sound/songwriting

Yeah, it was a totally nonsensical rant about how good Arcturus are and about certain bands' debut albums being better than follow ups. I don't see what any of that has to do with Isis.

Another Isis awesome work. Really emotive. And BTW Arcturus is awesome too. Different styles.

One of my rare 10's. The core drum and bass sound did it for me.

A great album to finish a stellar discography. Maybe not quite at the same level as Oceanic and Panopticon but it's certainly not far off, and "Hall Of The Dead" and "Threshold Of Transformation" are amongst the band's best written songs.
