Overkill - Taking Over

This is probably my favorite album by Overkill. Fatal If Swallowed is fucking hilarious, but In Union We Stand is really lame. But man, the first two songs really grab you by the nuts!

Yeah true, it feels very much like Manowar cover . Apart from this one it is decent thrash album, particularly from the start - as ususal with Overkill.

Not heard before in 1987

One of my favorites!

Not a huge fan of them but this album is really good. Favorite track is "Wrecking Crew".

Excellent album! Deny the cross and Fear his name are just standouts.

A decent album, simple but savage songs. The highlight on here is 'Overkill II', mainly because it was a new song, since most of the material on the album was already in their set list by 1984, these are mostly still quite primitive songs.

On a side note they are one of the first (if the not the first) thrash bands to use the pinch harmonic as a stylistic part of a riff rather than just in a solo like Eddie Van Halen did. Check 'Electro-Violence'.

Amazing songs. My favorites on this are Wrecking Crew, Fear His Name, and In Union We Stand

Personally I prefer the song writing of the 1st album though I can't say that this album is much worse. To me both of these albums are essential thrash releases.

Definitely a step up from the debut. Better songwriting and more variation and incredibly headbangable. I think I enjoy the dramatic finale too. Nice classic thrash.

Classic TM album, I like Metallica , but I always liked more Overkill as bay area thrash, Sortha good TM album whit good and fast not angry young lads what likes music and did it east cost way.... classic songs : In Union We Stand and We are wrecking crew

Great thrash classic and together with the other three from that period IMHO their best work. They never sucked but also never keep up with the old classics again.

Especially the A-Side is genius!
