Be'lakor is a five piece Melodic Death Metal band from Melbourne, Australia. "The Frail Tide" is the bands' debut album, and it seems like they've jumped out of the blocks quite nicely with this one. Be'lakor describes their music as "?aggressive vocals underpinned by dark atmospheres inflections and resonant harmonies". This is a reasonably accurate description of the band. The atmospheres produced almost remind you of a Doom aura. There are piano/keyboards used, and they do make a nice undertone throughout the music. The band is party inspired by nature and this is noticeable at times through expressive keyboard playing. The vocals are also well done. They're usually deep, but also often roaring and strong, a little akin to those of Novembers Doom. Listen to the first ten seconds of the album and you'll get hooked. Vocals could be better, but its made up for in the epic-ness of the instrumentation.

Very good stuff! I first listened to this about a couple years back. I really liked it!

It has such a grim and eerie looking album cover, but the music is nothing like what you would expect from the cover, it's actually rather mellow and melancholic rather than dark and atmospheric. I'm hearing so many influences on this album from other bands such as Opeth, Insomnium and Dark Tranquillity, and there is no doubt that there is some seriously talented musicianship within this band, who have put so much into this, but I still find the melodies slightly generic and the sound and song structures a wee bland tbh. It's a solid album overall with some interesting moments here and there, but I find it a tad dull at times.
