One of UK's finest extreme acts, Anaal Nathrakh, has awakened. Two years have passed since we found them lying In The Constellation Of The Black Widow, the warfare days are over and the forging of the new massive weapon has been accomplished. Operation Passion launched the first assault during the middle of May and the armada still marches supreme, inflicting major pain from earth, sea and air.

Album number six from these English lunatics offers another helping of the band's anarchic style. Clearly an album that has had its share of attention to detail, Passion comfortably blasts away any competition, breaking the mould once more.

More of the same novelty/symphonic grind or by any chance have they gone back to being black metal?

No black metal, but it is maybe a little more original in places. The vocals in "Tod Huetet Uebel" for example... really weird.

Really disappointed with this. Some songs are decent but most are generic. Definitely not up to the standards set by the last two albums.

Yea thats what I was thinking too. Like its decent but it pales in comparison to their last album. Although some of the screams/growls on this album kinda make a person go wait...wtf?

I remember someone telling me that the song 'Tod Huetet Uebel' had vocals that eerily reminded him of chickens being murdered and I listened to the track and just went "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

Without a doubt my favorite song off this album, an hour ago or so I just got back to my house after driving home from work and right as I pulled in the driver "Tod Huetet Uebel" came on and I was like damn thats a good one. Also really enjoyed the "Holy Fuck!" on "Drug-Fucking Abomination" Needless to say the vocalist has serious talent for these growls/screams.

The vocals in Tod Huetet Uebel are done by Rainer Landfermann (ex-Bethlehem). Great song as well.

Hmmm...I like AN quite a bit but this album doesn't really grip me like the others. Right now I give it a 6. That's after about four or five listens. Sometimes when I come back to an album after my initial impressions, I hear new things in it, but right now this sounds pretty generic. It has the unique AN sound but no songs grab me, there haven't been any melodies that stuck with me. The chorus lines all sound about the same (a little too much so) except for Paragon Pariah. I wasn't really a fan of the clean chorus lines on the past two albums until they grew on me (especially on Hell Is Empty...) but they just feel uninspired here, as does the rest of the album.
Hell Is Empty... is such a fantastic album and this feels like a big step back from that. But my score can change. Some of my favorite albums of all time didn't sound good to me at first. (Like Under The Sign Of Hell by Gorgoroth, the self-titled album by Bad Brains, The Number Of The Beast by Iron Maiden)

@Technogoat,
That's funny you say that, I kept thinking it sounded a ton like him. I thought maybe Vitriol had developed his talent a lot for this album (he still kicks ass though).

Man did anyone else find this disappointing? It's good enough as another black/grind mix, which enough bands are sadly not doing, but come on...it just sounded like one long song. No, not because "all grindcore sounds the same", but due to the lack of actual songs on the album. It just plays out like one long scream, some clean chants, blastbeats, end.

7/10 I suppose. I can't deny it's heavy and blasphemous, but it's simply not any better than that.

Surely a step backwards. i hope for a better follow up. Paragon Pariah and Volenti Non Fit Iniuria are awesome songs though (on the other hand i hate the plastic intros in the first 2 songs, they sound much better with them).

I was also disappointed with this. Just nowhere near the intense grooves and chatchy choruses as on previous two albums.

Im not sure where I stand with this album, on one hand, I can sit through the entire album and throughly enjoy every moment, but By the time I get to track three, I get a sense of de ja vu, It's quite difficult to differentiate between the tracks at times. Although I could just imagine this to be the metal version of "thick as a brick" and pretend its all one song.

For some reason the vocals of this album really annoy me, whichever way they are sung. The clean vocals don't seem to fit the songs they are on, and the harsher style sometimes goes out of control, too much so for its own good. Nevertheless, this is isn't that annoying, especially when most of the album's songs are each satisfyingly brutal. They may not be different from each other, but they certainly have a tight and maniacal approach.
