Here is an important CD, the first official release of Swedish In Flames. 1994's Lunar Strain is indeed a monument in the world of Melodic Death Metal, especially if you consider that 1994 is almost ten years from now. At that time, the band is still more a bunch of musicians than a band, and, by the way, it can be considered as a mix between Dark Tranquillity and In Flames, seeing that Mikael Stanne [singer of Dark Tranquillity nowadays] handled the vocals on Lunar Strain! Man, I have not listened to this in ages (well, In Flames in general)... I remember liking it A LOT.

Majority of the songs on this album indeed are average, but I find "Behind Space", "Lunar Strain", "In Flames" and "Upon An Oaken Throne" to be good rather than average.

Starforsaken and In Flames are real gems. It would be interesting to hear all of these songs in more modern production.

I think this is their best despite the production. It feels much more organic. The first two songs are definitely highlights.
