I have been a fan of August Burns Red ever since a friend showed me the song "Back Burner". I was amazed at the technicality I was hearing, so when I got home I hopped on the computer and started downloading a few songs. Sadly, I wasn't too impressed, so I let my love die a little... until now.

Never listened to this band before but this is actually solid metalcore. Enjoyed it quite a bit.

Yeah, this is a solid album. Sufficiently heavy, good melodies, and not completley overrun by breakdowns.

I downloaded this album just to poke fun at it, but it ended up being incredibly solid. I'm happy to see that they've started breaking away from the breakdown-centric sound that they started with. The prog elements are interesting, as well.

Damn, I almost hate to say it, but this may just wind up being one of the better releases of 2011. Not gonna beat Autopsy, Hell, Havok, or Artillery, Hate Eternal, or Nervecell and likely won't beat Vader or Megadeth, but it's damn good. Likely gonna make the top ten. And... It's a Christian metalcore band... I just lost all of my kvlt points...

Great stuff. Agree with the comments, this is one of the few metalcore bands that truly keep the genre alive. Any metal fan would enjoy this music, even ones of kvlt status.

I went to Warped festival, and hung around the ska/dubstep artists for most of the day. I decided to venture over to the 'metal' tent (screamo/metalcore) and ran in to the beginning of this bands set. And, for the next 40 minutes, I actually understood why metalcore could be so popular. The music was heavy, but also incredibly fun. I decided to stick around the metal tent for the next few artists, (including The Devil Wears Prada, and A Day To Remember) and it reinstilled my faith that I am not a metalcore fan. However, while August Burns Red was playing, I was questioning whether all this shit that metalcore gets might actually be misplaced.

Re-listening to this for the first time in a long time. Still very solid.

It’s always funny listening back to albums and finding things you may have missed in the past. This band (and this album specifically) was obviously a big influence on Counterparts. There are sections that sound exactly like Counterparts songs.
