Going through my 2010 albums i'd have to agree. My expectations for this release are tremendous

I remember the 2010 MS awards. In the advantgarde catagory I voted for Rosetta's ADOM. I love Rosetta but after a few more spins of Angst I wanted to change my vote!

Don't quite know what to think yet. :|

Holy fuck this is disappointing. I love the idea that they're moving to something more progressive-based and away from derivative black metal, but this is just...well, unremarkable, really. It's not really bad, but not engaging-- the same kind of problem I had with Riverside's newest.

I listened to this, and then I revisited Angst. I'm listening through this one again, and I can say that I agree with Divergenceless pretty much entirely. An unremarkable, unmemorable, and extremely disappointing release. The vocals are weak and the musicianship generally doesn't hold the same strength as the previous record.

This is way too bad of an album for there to be three votes of 6. It's definitely not a 666 worthy album.

I've heard only good things about this band (never listened to an album of theirs), interesting to see this one not getting much praise. I'll have to check it out.

this one is a better than their previous, immensely overrated here on MS, ones. But still nothing great. About a 6 I'd say

I loved everything about Angst ... gotta check this out and see for myself . I hope I won't be disappointed :S

EDIT : on first listen , I liked it ... the intensity is GONE , but still I'm a fan of anything that features male and female vocals over soothing music . a generous 8 .

EDIT #2 : more listens ==> so disappointing it hurts . too boring ...

I'm all for accepting that Angst is overrated, but to say that this album is better is an extreme stretch. At least on Angst they actually had ambition and a half-decent male vocalist...

I am listening to this as I write this. It's not as good as Angst. New male voice is ok, the female voice really stands out. Seems a bit more melodic too. Angst had it's post and atmospheric moments but when it went heavy, it was HEAVY. This doesn't punch you in the mouth. I need a few more spins to digest.

I want to say progressive too. Angst just blew me away. A great mixture of post black. I hadn't heard anything like it at the time.

You're making it sound as if this one might be better for me, I'll see how it goes! I do prefer the album artwork on Angst though.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend Apnoe even to fans of Amorphis. It has redeeming qualities, but nothing that other groups haven't already explored.

A few tracks in and it sounds unlike anything I've heard before, can't find any comparisons at this point. An odd sound for me, pretty withdrawn and doesn't have particularly remarkable features yet.

Can one band member's departure make this much of a difference? Wow.

Fuck this is awful.
