One can always appreciate the emergence of some new and experimental music and the people who plant the seeds for it. But this time, there are more names to take the credit for their contribution to that music, not to mention that it gets more interesting and adventurous once you listen to what they deliver.

Those who are familiar with sludge metal and its history are more likely to hail New Orleans for combining elements of heavy metal, punk music and southern rock to come up with sludge metal. Ever since then, the scene has grown and spread across the globe, spawning many acts in US and abroad, with some of these acts improvising on combining sludge with post-rock.

Finally got around to this. Not bad. Good female vocals. I can't put a tag on this however. Post-metal/sludge possibly?

I agree, very good unique female vocals with a nice deconstructed sound which is strangely intoxicating.

Agreed. The song structures are very repetitive within them which is why I get a post-metal vibe. I love long, drawned-out passages...

I secondly agree. They do get a little repetitive, and at times I feel that the music is focusing on a single dimension of metal and taking it to a greater extreme while taking that element to its [attempted] artistic maximum within the genre. That element I feel is the very harshness found in distortion. it doesn't try to go all out in energy but the vocals (\a beautiful and unique approach to typically growled or shouted lyrics) to even the booming distortion of the guitars being so up front.

When I look back at what I've written for the review, I find myself surprised that my opinion hasn't changed.

Very good and . OS manages to keep me interested for every single second of this album but I'm not a big fan of clean vocals during the lower notes, which could be surprising as most others seem to adore the singer.

If your opinion hasn't changed, then why rate it a 10 and not a 9?

Anyway, the reason I visited this page is because I noticed the 2nd album is currently #1 in the top 20 of 2013. Will definitely check out this debut as well if I like their new album.

It was a 10 but I toned down my exclamation and obvious fanboyism for my review.
