The melodic aspects are the strong points, but the brutal, aggressive parts, while being fairly generic, are necessary in the big picture. It's like eating one of those giant-ass bags of Skittles. First, you set aside all the nasty yellow ones, and devour them in one mouthful so you can enjoy the delicious orange & red ones uninterrupted. Basically, repeat that every 5 minutes or so, in sonic form. The aggressive parts are listenable, but they mostly offer to strengthen the catchy melodic bits, and it works.
All this is great, but it still glosses over the fact that there is a lot of generic parts on the album. While the beginning of Earth-Sick is an interesting listen because of contrast, the latter half starts sounding stale once the pattern is obvious. Sitting through the flavourless minutes becomes more and more tiresome as it goes on. It all comes down to predictability, in fact. As neither side of the album is stronger than the other, it's just that Earth-Sick puts a certain emphasis on having an unpredictable atmosphere, something that is hard to maintain after 4 or 5 songs.
Gory Blister are definitely onto something really great here, despite some issues in the consistency department. If you enjoy any form of modern death metal, chances are Earth-Sick has something to offer you.
