Recorded and mixed by Ahti Kortelainen and Sentenced at Tico-Tico Studio, Kemi, Finland from December '92 - February '93.Acoustic guitars and keyboards by Tenkula & Lopakka.
All music and lyrics by Sentenced.
Re-released in 2001 featuring "The Trooper" EP as bonus tracks.
Remastered and reissued on January 18, 2008 in a slipcase with new cover art, the main album on a single disc and a bonus disc featuring "Journey To Pohjola" demo, "The Trooper" EP and previously unreleased tracks from the "Amok" recording process.

Good album just tryd it(remastered) - epic one, good old school DM, diferent sound how USA and comparingw hit 1th album this goes more ''melodic, more prog'' way but they did not forgot metal roots IM cover is good , but I dont have Dance On The Graves at my CD .... Demo songs are also good, good quality DM; not typical basemant songs

Such a shame this band went down the path of "suomi" metal after their first two full lengths. Shadows of the Past and North From Here are full of really good death metal, and the rest of their discography is just wave after wave of garbage...

This album contains some really cold atmosphere. To me this was the first Sentenced record I have heard. Hard to get into, but it rewards you.

Awaiting the winter frost till today is my all-time favourite song by them (followed by Nepenthe). Unfortunately, the rest of this album cannot hold up to this at all IMO. Still a decent DM album over all.

The new Mefitis made me remember how much of a groundbreaking album this one is. A true Death Metal classic and Sentenced's best by far.

The previous album was very good old-school death metal, while this album is more technical, progressive, atmospheric and even closer to black metal. Their most interesting album, the score is completely underestimated. Although "The Cold White Light" is their popular work, their early works are full of experimental and exploratory spirit of music.
