Then again, it'd be around 7 years after Jaws 3 came out that I was even conceived, so, plainly, there's some kind of spacetime folding, Morgan Freeman's wormhole voodoo that these guys have achieved on this. No other explanation. It sounds like it came out of the early 80s and it makes me think I know what I'm talking about when I bring up that shitty period?this is the kind of album that, as far as a 90s-ite can tell, makes you feel like you were there, like you had the mullet and the spiked leather jacket, the Chevette and the leafy weed.
But you can throw on Iron Fist or Tor Mega Therion for the same early(ish) 80s feel, and it would be way more authentic and rewarding. What Pest put out here, a black/speed metal record with plenty of homagery to Hellhammer and Celtic Frost, is another case of throwback music that seems to have as its main impetus the revival of old production-styles over piss and vinegar. Which, to be fair, can't be complained about too much in this case (these guys play well enough throughout), though, there's just not much substance on this. The Crowning Horror is a production-first kind of thing, the tunes seem secondary.
