It's really obvious that a band like Kamelot received popularity through their lead singer. Siege Perilous is the first album from symphonic/power metal band Kamelot to feature ex-Conception singer Roy Khan as the new lead singer. If you are a Conception fan then you know the beauty and power of Roy Khan's voice considering he is a trained opera singer who decided to leave and enter the pathway to metal. Many power metal bands usually lose their magic when it comes to having a new lead singer or main member but this is not the case with Kamelot. A 6.9 for this album is absolutely ridiculous. Sure, it's different from the modern Kamelot, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Except for a few annoying songs (Once A Dream and Irea) I enjoy most songs on this album (especially tracks 1-4 and 6). Some great melodies to be found here, and even though Khan's vocals aren't as great as they could've been they still fit the music perfectly.

Even though this album featured Roy Khan on vocals, it is not good at all. Funny how they could create what I would say their best album right after this one. I am talking about "The Fourth Legacy".

Their most underrated album. A lot of amazing tracks are here to find. What is really bad here is production. Other than this it's good album with great vocals and tracks. Listen to The Expedition live version of Expedition and Millenium - brilliant tracks when production is good. I love Rhydin, Millenium and King's Eyes most but can't see any bad songs. Different style != bad.

Some of the albums right after are stronger but overall it's a really strong power metal record with great melodies and vocal lines by Khan. I love the rawness in the production and writing, makes it feel alive. Compared to most power metal of today this is miles ahead.

The album is immediately better in its first 50 seconds than the previous two and the vocals are less irritating, but even so the melodic choices of King's Eyes, Once a Dream are not for me. Even Millennium and Siége, although slightly better, suffer this problem

It's a good album to be the one in which Roy Khan made his debut. My fav tracks are Millennium, King's Eyes, and Irea.
