Instrumental tracks on albums of vocal groups are often seen as filler material or as a possibility to show musical skills.
In contrast, the title track is often considered to be the central and defining part of an album, suggesting that the corresponding lyrics may contain important key information to the understanding of the album. Therefore, it may seem surprising that several albums of vocal groups exhibit an instrumental as title track. This alphabetical list presents albums by vocal groups where the title track is an instrumental. This concerns purely instrumental songs but may also include songs where melody lines without lyrics are vocalised. Please feel free to suggest more examples of unusual title tracks by regular vocal groups that are purely instrumental or where the lead singer does not sing lyrics. [Updated 15.11.2024]

The only three exceptions are: Kaatayra - Inpariquipe: it does have some soft singing with lyrics at some point; Naked City - Grand Guignol: I am struggling with the cover art; Vuvr - Pilgrimage: title of the album and name of potential title tracks may be too different in this case. - ... but maybe I change my mind at some point. Only exceptions are Freakeys, Octavision, Bob Katsionis and Tony Mac Alpine, because they are mainly instrumental artists - as far as I have seen. The suggested examples from Viikate (Sarkajako-twist), Light Bringer (Noah) and Avenged Sevenfold (Jade Helm) do not seem to be title tracks - or did I miss something? Again, thank you for the long list of interesting examples and your support.
