King Crimson had a mightily prolific career during their first five years, but on Red is where the magic really happened. Yes, this is the apex of King Crimson’s career and, by induction, the pinnacle of progressive metal. Let’s dive into one of the most excellent, unfuckwithable, timeless, and influential metal albums of all time.

Well this album is certainly not to be missed, especially if you're a big collector of Progressive Rock. The darkness of songs such as the title track and 'One more red nightmare' show that King Crimson are a band in touch with their negative side, as well as the positive. All in all, a fantastic album, and probably their second best.

This is one of the best albums of all time and "Starless" is probably my favorite song ever. No wonder they disbanded for a while after this, it could never be topped.

This album is mandatory for every prog fan. Listen this album to understand that today's bands have worked over solid foundations. Opeth could not be Opeth without these guys.

Ooops, just slipped into the Top 200, directly at rank 23
I have to admit, I dont quite see why.
While it might have been influential and certainly is not a bad album, I dont find much here either.
Title track, Fallen angel, Starless are nice songs.
But a 9.02 overall, I dont know.
Maybe we will see the usual haircut following a top-200 entry soon (but maybe not).

I'm not as keen on the middle three tracks, but Red and Starless are excellent.

There are times I like Red better than ITCOTCK, but it goes back and forth.

I agree!
When band reach the top and want to continue the journey there is only two ways: go back or go downhill.
This is my favourite King Crimson album and one of the best rock album ever recorded. It has strongly inspired many modern bands like Tool (for example).
A milestone.

Imagine listening to this in 1974, nothing at that time sounded as dark and evil, not even black sabbath.

Took me a while and quite a few listens to fully appreciate this album, but I can see why people have high praise for it. 'Red' is mesmerising and 'Starless' is a fantastic mixture of vulnerability and tension.

The whole album is dark, experimental and somewhat menacing, which makes for an initially challenging listen, but a rewarding one over time.

9.0/10 for me - 'Starless' is the standout track. The title track is also fantastic.

First time I see someone complaining about the album cover, it's iconic for a lot of people. I see nothing wrong here.
