I did try to finish it,but it was a torture. 60% into the album I just had to stop this. Why making such a bloated album??

Bloated and uninteresting. It's crushing, sure, but it does little to engage the listener. Mindlessly heavy without much direction, or at least that's my opinion after my unsuccessful attempts. Maybe towards the end it improves, but based on what I'm reading in this thread it doesn't appear to be the case. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything here by giving up and calling it a day.

That's a fair criticism. I managed to make my way through it in its entirety, but I haven't listened to it since.

Damn, that rating shot to hell real fast.

The album isn't good, but the band has some great releases.

Can't say I agree with you. I enjoyed Peasant and Tyrant, but wouldn't call them "great", and actually fail to impress most of the time. However, that being said, nothing I've heard from them is as piss-poor as this garbage

Thou!!! This release is boring but I recently saw them live with The Body and it was enjoyable, so here's a 5.

I should make another version of this album by removing all the boring bits I keep skipping. Because there are some good moments here and there.

I am all into this sort of shit. I love lengthy, repeated, meandering albums. I love lots of music, I love getting lost in it. Do me a favor. Go listen to Light Bearer. Basically the same stuff. Maybe my attention span, after 41 years, is cavernous and a black hole, lol.

My attention span - I wrote attention spam at first, hilarious - is really not the problem. It's just that this isn't really what I like the most. I listened to it (the parts I didn't skip, that is), because I am very curious about how my tastes evolved and if my opinion on Thou changed.

If Light Bearer is really more of the same, I will most probably dislike it. But I'm willing to try, I'll tell you when I get to it .

I kinda felt that on the first song and never really got past it. I really like Thou so I'll give it another go tomorrow.

Same. Couldn't even get past the first song. And it is boring.

Haha I feel that way sometimes as well. I must admit this album wasn't meeting the hype right from the get-go and hasn't been getting any better with additional listens through.

I first discovered these guys because of the collab they did with The Body, and after listening to this one I can pretty firmly say that The Body are vastly superior. Ok album, but totally undeserving of the hype it's been getting.

I've never heard the hype either. On the other hand, I still dont quite get what's so offensive about this album either. average to good stuff for me.
It's just too long.

Ode to Physical Pain is such a good song, damn shame.

Agreed. I would never guessed this album would be so polarizing but some people seem to hate it with a passion lol I love it though.
