I'll start off by saying that I wasn't planning on doing a list so early on in the year, but I've come across numerous albums that I'd like to share with people who enjoy my lists (or people who hate my lists).

This list will be a little different than my 2013 list. I created that list at the end of the year, and then decreased it to my Top 25 of 2013. This list will be a compilation of all 2014 albums I've come across and given a listen.

The rules for the list:
The album was released in 2014 (to the best of my knowledge, or someone else correcting me);
Each album included on the list will receive at minimum one (1) listen;
Albums will receive a grade from the professor ranging from A+ to F-, grading scheme will follow;
Albums can move up and down in grade as I see fit;
The list will have the albums pooled into their respective grade and listed alphabetically within that grade;
My opinion of the genre will be included;
I will include the number of times I have listened to the album in its entirety, generally if it receives a B- and up it will receive numerous spins (remember I said I only need to give it one to grade it).

UPDATE:
The top 10 are now listed in order. The rest remained alphabetical.
Grading scheme:
A+ (95 - 100)
A (90 - 94)
A- (85 - 89)
B+ (80 - 84)
B (75 - 79)
B- (70 - 74)
C+ (65 - 69)
C (60 - 64)
C- (55 - 59)
D+ (50 - 54)
D (45 - 49)
D- (40 - 44)
F+ (35 - 39)
F (30 - 34)
F- (1 - 29)

When an album receives a grade, use common sense with rounding. For example, an album may receive a 9 on metal storm, but an A- (85 - 89) on my list, which would round to a 9.

Please feel free to leave recommendations below if you'd like me to grade an album you are enjoying or love. Do not be butt hurt if I give it an unsatisfactory (in your opinion) grade. Keep in mind the tastes of my list. If you recommend an avant-garde progressive noisecore album I will give it an honest listen. But it may receive a poor grade from my stand point, as that is a genre I most likely wouldn't enjoy. Who knows though, there may be surprises.

Happy listening!

Just finished giving it a spin. It is definitely good. As soon as I looked up they were from France their sound made a lot of sense to me. The first song I heard some Blut Aus Nord and then also got a Deathspell Omega vibe at times too. Thanks for the recommendation!

I can't say I've listened to one album on this list but I have to say, pretty impressive that you added how many times you heard each album.

I think an 8-8.4 (B+) rating is pretty darn good haha. I certainly enjoyed it on an initial listen, and I'll be giving it more. I fell asleep to it the other night, which was peaceful. I've been listening to Faal's latest a lot recently, which I hold in very high esteem, so that may have affected my expectations.

I'm listening to the new Fallujah now, and its great. I saw you have some death / brutal death on your list so I'd suggest that. It's more tech / prog death though. I'd recommended the new ones from Infestus, Mayhem, Goatwhore, Artificial Brain, Inanimate Existence, and Mournful Congregation to name a few.

I listened to a couple of tunes off of Wolvhammer's new album, which were good so I will be checking out the rest of it soon.

Thanks for checking my list!

EDIT: Also I really like the new Atlas Moth too.

Not one hey? Well that's OK too haha. Well I try to make my list a little different from others, and I thought that plus the grading scale was a little unique.

Thanks for checking the list regardless

Well I have heard 5 or so minutes of a song from the Hannes Grossmann album, that's all for what's on here though. But the information you provide about the albums does make your list interesting.

Thanks! Your list is great too. We have several similar albums at the top.

Thanks for recommending those two albums. I had both of them on my "to listen to" queue, but I bumped them up after your recommendation. I've only given each album one listen, so far.

Vanhelgd will likely be a solid B+ or A- on my list after one listen, could fluctuate. As you commented on your list?the riffs are excellent and there are so many of them. Catchy stuff and still true to its sound.

Chaos Moon will likely be a solid B or B+ on my list after one listen, could fluctuate. Didn't quite dig it as much as you did, but it is certainly good stuff. I love a good atmo-black album, so it was a pleasure to listen to.

If you have any more recs, keep em coming!

Listening to Dying Sun release, again. I'm warming up to it Monolithic sound, reminds me of Dirge, but with a more emphasis on doom of course.

Its been quite some time since I've spun it, trying to get caught up on all the new stuff that keeps coming out. I saw you gave Falloch's new album a strong rating. I enjoyed their last one, so I will be checking that out soon.

Glad to see someone really enjoyed the new Fen album! It's a nice little shift in approach that I imagined would have a bit more appeal to some folks.

I've enjoyed all of their offerings. Each is a little different, providing the listener with something new on each album. I thoroughly enjoyed it, although I think Epoch is still my favourite from them. They are quietly becoming one of my favourites to just throw on and listen to at any given time. From your comments on their page, I gather you were a little underwhelmed by the album?

I think I can agree with that assessment. As for Carrion Skies, for some reason or another I couldn't get captivated. It was still a good album, though.
