Beneath - The Barren Throne

A very consistent, powerful death metal album. Some of the riffs may sound the same towards the end, but the technical solo work and solid instrumental performance makes for an excellent all-round impression. my personal highlights are "Chalice" and "Mass Extinction Codex".

I think these guys are at their best when they hit groovier licks and slow down the pace before introducing a breakdown. The melodic elements are a nice distraction from some of the more monotonous straightforward blasting, but there's some pretty diverse soloing to make up for the more blatant and direct drum work.
