This is the last King Diamond I can tolerate. Everything after this sounds the same. The tempo seems to never change and becomes so much of a snoozer. I wish he would drop the whole concept album already. The stand alone songs on "Fatal portrait" are great! Abigail all time classic and I got to roadie a few shows on that tour. By the time "The Eye" was released it became a been there done that.

Fourth in a row for King. For me the only real weakness of this album is the lack of a strong concept similar to three previous ones. Other than that it's on par with them. King's albums after this aren't all that bad, but they haven't managed to make anything this good since, except for maybe Puppet Master.

A bit more melodic than before. Lots of great songs on this one, especially the three first tracks but also Behind These Walls and Father Picard are very memorable.

I was always under the impression they used a drum machine on this record but apparently that's not entirely true. It's fixed with a drum machine in post-production but Snowy Shaw actually did the drums for the songs.

IMHO this is the most overrated KD record. I like a lot of the following albums better and of course the three before are ways better. Still KD and therefore a good record!

Faves: Eye Of The Witch, Behind These Walls and The Curse
