I really want to like this, but it just bores me immensely. It's a shame given all the enjoyment people are getting out of it, but it's not my cup of tea for some reason.

If there was a universe populated by nothing but conjoined twins i'd hope to have your british butt stuck onto mine since 90% of the time you express exactly how I feel about the music. Even the name drops (Emptiness, DsO, Spectral Lore) were what sprung to mind for me too. Also from a nationalistic point of view the queen would approve of this combination. /ass kissing.

I'm glad this is starting to get some attention now before the end of the year. Has been out for ages and it almost slipped through the MS net.

Two tracks in and I'm thoroughly impressed. Coming from a primarily prog metal fan, that's saying something. Crushing riffs fed through meticulous songwriting.

Bolzer took me like five tries to get into. This is only my second attempt, as said.

But, yeah, more or less.

you must have a special state in order to listen to this album else you'll give a bad/false rate just like you did; 6 is not a real value for this album...you need to reconsider, to have more patiece analyzying while listening to it.

Yeah, the reason why people don't like the exact same thing as you is because they don't pay as much attention to those things as you do.
Definitely not because everyone has different tastes. Can you imagine? That would be ridiculous, haha.

I've actually listened to this album five times, so even if you think judging an album based one listen is invalid, you're being idiotic. I'm sorry we don't have exactly the same taste in music, but using the "oh you just don't get it" card to justify why someone might not enjoy an album you love is purely moronic. Sorry if this came across as rude, but one of my pet-peeves is when someone tries to claim that an opinion is invalid. My 6 is a real "value for this album", and really isn't a very bad rating for an album to get.

He is extremely top heavy with a shit ton of 10s and almost nothing in the middle until you get to the 4s. This behavior is only in the 2014 releases and nothing else. It just seems like he's trying to be clever and avoiding the 1s.

It's also quite funny how all his votes with 4 or less are from 2014 Maybe he thinks this year had some of the worst metal albums in history ?

Already liking this, and I don't typically listen to this genre much because I find it a bit monotonous. Then again, those that don't like melodeath or extreme power would probably say the same about those genres. I like the progressive blackened death title too
