There can be very little denying that Edmond Karban and Christian Popescu (of Negură Bunget note) have come a long way in developing and perfecting their sound. First masters of atmosphere in Negura, they have since departed, forming the equally (if not more) impressive Dordeduh in 2009. But the ball's not stopping its rolling there, folks. Get ready for Sunset In The 12th House.

This is one of the greatest post-rock albums I've ever heard. What a fantastic and brilliant ride. Each track is expertly crafted and unique, adding up to an album full of originality and memorable compositions. I am truly blown away by this masterpiece; I can't give it enough praise. Easily one of my absolute favorites of the year already. This is so damn good. Did I already say that?

My first reaction was 'what, another post rock on MS' but there is definitely Metal on this album.

Man, this is some seriously good shit. I'm firmly convinced now that virtually anything these guys touch is going to going to turn out pretty fucking amazing. The Eastern feel on "Desert's Eschaton" is just the best.

I am the Magician and the Exorcist. I am the axle of the wheel, and the cube in the circle. “Come unto me” is a foolish word: for it is I that go.

It seems I'm the odd one out

I often found the album mindlessly meandering. While I tend to enjoy instrumental and non-instrumental music equally, I feel many of these overstretched passages could have greatly benefited from some vocals, if not some variation in instrumentation.

Desert's Eschaton and Rejuvenation were the two tracks on the album that were consistently enjoyable. If the rest of the album was that good, I'd easily give it an 8.5.

It's one thing to create a masterpiece, but making it look fucking easy is another story.

Really liking the warmness of this album. Personal highlights are "Paraphernalia of Sublimation" and "Desert's Eschaton". I also find it interesting how the album is structured-the songs becomes progressively shorter as the album plays on.

Got around to this. Not very technical but has post metal ever been? I definitely get an Isis vibe from it, and the crescendo-styled structures really generate some terrific atmosphere. The "noodle-y" guitar picking as I like to call it, is just gorgeous. Just when I thought post metal this year was sucking I listen to this and Rosetta within the past week. Whew...in the nick of time...

I like the album a fair bit, but I kinda wish I liked it even more, as there's so much promise here, but some of the songwriting doesn't live up to the potential of the ideas going into it. I'm torn between a 7 and an 8, but will probably go with the latter just due to its distinctiveness and potential to impress more on further listens. I think if they release a follow-up maintaining the ideas they have here but with some more solid writing, they really could make something properly good.

Intrigued... Will give it a listen - to a degree I trust tea[m]ster when it comes to post-metal, and Erik M. too. Hopefully not another Isis clone cuz lately the genre feels like it needs new ideas. But they're on hiatus already?

Yeah its metal in it, but the album is less than average if you compare it with Mono or GY!BE.

Listened to this again. The reason why its a "7" for me? The album really loses steam toward the end. All the great moments are in first 3 songs.

Definitely the post album of the year. Majestic melodies, psychedelic, oriental and post are finally such a great combination. Loved all the tracks except the last one.

It's a pretty good album with nice soft post-rock instrumentation, I just wish it wasn't so damn long. However, it does make excellent background music.
