Barren Earth is somewhat doom.
I dislike death metal and harsher forms of metal in general. There are some exceptions, of course.

That's good for you, everyone listens to what they like.
All I know, is that I was exposed to harsher music myself, and from the black metal scene, my one tolerable band I can name is Burzum, never understood why, never cared to be honest.
There are exceptions in every form of music for me, not just in metal.

But my all time preferred style is the darker form of Power Metal and Progressive Metal.

when I started I did not know genres so well all as HM . so I like all and Burzum never cared about band ---
