Constrictor didn't bring Alice much success, at least not as much as the subsequent albums in his glam metal phase, but this album did set him back on a steady, comprehensible path after years of self-destructive behavior and free-wheeling musical experimentation. I can imagine the relief such a safe and palatable album would have entailed at the time of its release, although a retrospective look means that Constrictor lacks its initial charm and has to stand on the strength of its songs, a motley collection of three-minute glam rockers.

Yeah, it's pretty much 80's pop metal but with Alice Cooper. I think his over the top horror image kinda works well with this glam metal style even if the music isn't probably the most interesting there is. In fact, the music here is mostly boring. However, I love He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask), it's cheesy and fun. Back when I was a teenager I used to love horror films and the Friday 13th was my introduction to Alice Cooper.

I discovered this from the film Friday the 13th Part VI, I heard the last track at the end of the film, I identified that it was Alice Cooper, and I decided to check out the rest of the material. Unfortunately, the other songs are not at the level of He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask) , but I found some fun stuff like Teenage Frankenstein, Life And Death Of The Party and Crawlin'.

A weak attempt of doing 80's metal. The songs feel empty and the drum machine is horrible and makes the album sound incredibly dated. Some of the songs are alright, Life And Death Of The Party is the most memorable here along with He's Back and The World Needs Guts but as a whole it's not a fun listen.
