Howls Of Ebb are a fine example of the growing tendency towards experimentation taking place right now not only in black metal, but in death metal as well. There's little that can be said about this album other than that it's a bizarre, stimulating journey into a blackened death whirlwind oozing of psychedelic bounce and eerie atmospheres. I only listened to a few songs from this album but I expected something much crazier and aggressive than that, for something described as weird and labeled as Black/Death Metal. It is weird, yes, but probably not as much as some make it sound. And even if it is quite fast here and there and distorted, I find it rather biteless. Also, drums sound very fake and weak. I will probably check it more thoroughly later but at the moment I'm not excited about it.

Written by Bad English on 31.03.2016 at 19:50 The couple of songs I heard are perhaps more Death than Black but they have BM influences. This sounds much more BM to me than the only Anaal Nathrakh album I heard from start to end ("In The Constellation Of The Black Widow"). That didn't sound at all like BM to me but as a mix of Brutal Death Metal and grindcore. If their other albums are not more BM than ITCOTBW, I don't even know why Anaal Nathrakh is considered BM because there is so very little BM it doesn't worth talking about it.

I missed out on a lot of new music and the last couple of days had some of the most intense listening sessions in my life This album was one of the highlights with how dirty, heavy and fucking crazy it is.
