Abattoir's Concert Hunt - Introduction / Round 01 & 02

Here we go. So, while being a regular "concertgoer", it came to my mind that I could make some kind of extensive project out of it, to make and present it as a one-year-journey in a blog-style manner. This project will include a regular attending of the events, writing prefaces prior every concert, reports/reviews after, and posting some basic information/statistics of the single event. You might wonder how "regular" I mean by that...well, the main goal of this solo project is to attend one gig per week, which means 52 weeks = 52 events. It definitely is a heavy task to execute, but I'm 100% determined about all this, making it happen as I planned.

To give you some additional information: more or less I'll try to attend only metal-related events. It depends on the frequency of confirmed events in certain weeks and on my ability to attend a certain gig. The max distance (from my hometown) to attend an event would be around 600 km - for example: Munich, Budapest, Verona, Vienna, Bratislava, Milan. But that's just from time to time. The majority of gigs that I'll attend will happen in Slovenia and Croatia. Still, there are quite a few of them happening outside these borders. The list of upcoming/attended events will be updated regularly. As I mentioned before, I will be posting all this stuff in a blog-style article on a two-week cycle. To clarify: a single post/update in this blog (except for the very first and very last one) will consist of two preface writings (one for each upcoming event) with basic descriptions in one paragraph, and two concert reviews (one for each attended event).

I think you get the idea of where I'm going with this project. And, of course, while it is only 1.1.2019, my journey has already started. For that matter, I'm also posting the first two preface writings for the first two events that I will attend in the first and second weeks of January. With very limited options for these first two weeks, it may not be a blasting start, but it will certainly serve the purpose.

Round 01 : Inmate, Dethrone The Corrupted, Ashine (03.01.2019 - Ljubljana/Slovenia) --> Venue: Orto Bar (upstairs)

Concert preface:

For the first gig of this massive "journey," I've chosen to attend a double package of Slovene metal groups: Inmate and Ashine. Probably don't ring any bells for you. To be honest, I didn't really have any other options while most groups are still in "rest mode" at this early stage of the year. Nevertheless, I am still excited about it, being the first event of the whole course. And, while I don't know either of these two bands, I might just discover something new, something fresh. The headliners, Inmate, have recently released their third full-length, entitled Anarthas, and are the more experienced one on this bill. Also, one thing that these bands have in common is the genre that they play, which is melodic death metal with metalcore influences, especially Inmate. More to follow in the review.
Entrance fee: 6?

Round 02 : Sober Assault, Necrotik, Big Bad Wolf (12.01.2019 - Brezice/Slovenia) --> Venue: Klub MC

Concert preface:

Still hanging out within my home country. This time I'll be visiting the city/club the nearest to my home. The event will be hosting, as in first case, another three relatively young Slovene groups. Melodic death thrashers Sober Assault, heavy metallers Big Bad Wolf and metalcore representatives Necrotik will be the performers of this night. The first two acts mentioned also released their debut full-length records in 2018, so I do have the feeling that the lack of energy and motivation on stage won't be an issue for these guys. For me, this will be another event of not knowing what to expect, like in the first case/round 01. I'm not familiar with the music of these groups, but that's not an issue at all. The vibe is always present. If I will be leaving this gig with at least one positive performance, then that's already the success. I'll be informing you further in my upcoming review.

Entrance fee: Free entrance

Why not. There are still lots of bands I'd like to see, lots of places I'd like to visit. Of course, it's not a strict rule. I'm sure I'll attend other-related events also, while I'm not limited to metal stuff only. However, it's not all up to me.

Seems kinda off-putting that you wouldn't want to attend stuff that isn't metal. Sure there's plenty of metal stuff left to see and I'm sure you won't get bored of it anytime soon. Judging by your last sentence, I guess your hand is a bit forced. Still hope ya gonna go see, for example, The Cure and Foals at InMusic Fest in Zagreb.

It's not that I wouldn't want to. It's simply one of the main goals in this project. My decision.

InMusic Fest is an option indeed.
