Red Wine sings in Spanish, and I don't understand neither Spanish nor French, so I don't have a clue about what the lyrics are all about.
But there are other ways you can enjoy an album, I mean the most important thing is that the music is good, without good music it's doesn't matter how good the lyrics are, you will probably don't like it anyway.
Red Wine was formed already back in 1997 and released their debut album, "Hijos Del Despertar" in 2001.
In 2002 they released their second album, "El Fin De Los Tiempos", which included some choirs by Elisa (ex-Dark Moor, Dreamaker) and Nacho (Arwen) & a beautiful cover of the legendary Jean-Pascal Fournier.
2003 came "Sueños y Locura" which was mastered by Piet Sielck (ex-Helloween, Iron Saviour).
And as you can guess, this review is about the forthcoming album, "Cenizas" (Spanish for "Ash").
I've got some help from my dear co-worker Undercraft with the translation for each song, so I and those that can't Spanish/French also shall understand at least the song titles.
Otherwise I don't understand anything of the lyrics, but the music is easier.
They play a very catchy Heavy Metal, not the same as their compatriots from Spain; this is a little faster and heavier and less Powerish.
And with the Melodies mixed with the Spanish vocals, this is really good and I think it will surprise a lot of Metal fans out there.
Many of you know Mägo de Oz, it's a little the same feeling here, except that the music is very different, but with the Spanish vocals and the melodies, they are like melting together, there must be something special with Spanish vocals and Metal music.
But musically it's very good, the band is very talent and I think if they sang in English, they would get some more attention.
But now that's not the case, so all of us that already discovered Red Wine will be happy about a new and very well played album from the band, and hopefully they'll get at least a little more attentions now, because even if it's Spanish, it's good, it's much better than many other, more famous bands out there.
So if you're into Melodic Heavy Metal, check out Red Wine, maybe you'll find yourself a new, fresh good band.
Check Out: "Una Vida Más", "Salva tu Hogar" & "Despierta".
