Collapse 7 are the newest addition of the Napalm Records family, and one thing that makes my head wonder, is why Napalm Records signed this band, not that this is totally awful, but doesn't have anything to do with the recent Folk Metal frenzy of the Austrian company.
Nevertheless, they're professionals and they must seen something really special in this band, formed by members of Pungent Stench and Hollenthon.
The thing is, I don't see anything special in this band, I mean, the music is typical Death Metal, with a melodic twist, although I found the guitar work amazing, the songwriting leaves me somewhat unsatisfied, becomes repetitive, predictable and quite unoriginal.
Songs range from mid-paced pieces to super fast ones, just the ones you like to headbang with. The production is high quality, and the cover art is very nice too, so the audiovisual aspect is great, sadly the originality factor is lacking here.
The thing that make me loose hope for this band is the fact that these guys are talented musicians, and no amateurs in the scene, the technical level of the musicianship is truly good, but the entertainment level is just not right. Especial honorable mention for adding Samuel L. Jackson's biblical speech from "Pulp Fiction", I just love that part. My favorite song? "A Prophet's Speech" why? Just listen to it and you'll understand.
