Quite hard really to have an opinion on a band, with only two tracks and barely 5 minutes of music - of aggression should I say. Malebolgia is a young brutal death band from USA (the two members are from North Carolina and Florida), that released this two-tracks promo demo to promote the upcoming release of their first full-length (they only have an EP up to now).
So, what can I say? I want the full-length!! These two songs are really excellent. It's technical as hell, especially as far as the drums are concerned: loads of blastbeats, rhythm changes and stuff, this guy is amazing. The music is classical brutal death a la Cryptopsy for example, sometimes on the edge of grind, but it still remains audible, never messy. The production is great for that type of record, I was expecting something raw and dirty, but it's really clean and emphasizes all the violence they blast out.
The biggest work has been done on the vocals. As you can hear (if you give Malebolgia a chance - you should), there mostly is more than one vocal line. I explain: you have the typical growlings, and at the same time hardcore screams, plus sometimes another vocal line consisting in thrashy harsh vocals. The result is brilliant, it actually gives them a touch of originality that is very welcome.
So if you're a technical brutal death fan, you should check out their website and wait for their upcoming full-length, it's really worth it, and what are we here for, if we don't promote talented young bands? As far as I'm concerned, Malebolgia is an excellent surprise. But two songs is far too short.
