I remember a couple of years ago when I first heard a band called Pustulated don't ask me how but I managed to grab their debut album called Inherited Cryptorchidism, what I remember the most is me saying "Fucking hell! what the fuck is this thing" it was one of the most brutal albums ever to touch my stereo, Pustulated immediately hooked me up and I became a huge fan of the name. Now they released a new CD called Haematoma, the "Fucking hell?" element is still there, but in a different way, I'll explain a little deeper.
Pustulated is still delivering brutality at its sickening best, the difference in Haematoma comes in the musical structures, it's not as catchy as their previous work, but it's still one of the most brutal releases in the scene. Pustulated was clever enough to add some mid-paced riffs, that adds some intensity to the mix and keeps you wondering "what's next". The vocals are fucking insane, if I ever hear those grunts at night I swear I'll soil my pants immediately, this guy has one of the lowest vocal chords I've ever heard in my entire life, he also fluctuates things up with some gurgles and shrieks which is a great thing if you ask me. The drumming, performed by Chad Walls (from Brodequin), annihilates the snare drum and gives us excellent double-bass execution, so this band is excellent in the performing area as you can see.
The first half of the CD (track 1-7) is brand new material, as I said you won't get more brutal than this actually, then the second half (track 8-12, released previously in a split with Copremesis) enters; now this segment is really interesting, if you loved the first half you'll be fucking thrilled by the second section. This final tracks have everything that Pustulated used to be, the riffing is extremely catchy and the brutality is rawer than the first half of the CD, so if this is your first time with this band, I swear you'll fucking worship those tunes.
The album is overall very good, it even includes a "Dimebag" Darrell tribute (sixth track), can you imagine Pantera's "Walk" mixed with Brutal Death Metal? You don't have to imagine its right here in this album. What I disliked about Haematoma was the sucky and poor layout; this record has just a deprived sheet of paper instead of a booklet, and that royally sucks you know? It's always cool to read the lyrics and all, but whatever.
I still prefer their debut Inherited Cryptorchidism, so if you don't know this band buy that mentioned album; but if you already know them and own their debut, fucking buy Haematoma right now it doesn't explodes as hard as Inherited? but it will surely blow your brains out.
