Oshiego is a young band from Singapore. Yeah Singapore, you're not dreaming, a country which has a strong Metal scene with a big fan base actually. "Now Suffer" is the first release of the combo. For a first Demo, I have to say that it's convincing, and I must say also that I already believe in this band? It smells good?
Oshiego plays Death Metal with in addition the melodic aspect of Thrash. This good musical mix is really efficient and the four songs of the CD are extremely convincing. Actually, the music of Oshiego is violent but the sound is clean and it's easy to listen to all the melodies that the guys put in their compositions. It's Death Metal, and believe me, the voice of the singer (in the Grindcore mode a lot of time) and the amazing drumming of Vijesh (he is a real machine!) are clearly oriented toward the Brutal Death direction. But there is also clean thrashy guitars riffs and soli and it gives a nice melodic side to the music of Oshiego. This is not Gothenburg Death, but more a brutal Thrash Metal and you know what? It works?
The demo was recorded in Singapore at the famous Snakeweed Studios. You can be sure that one more time the quality of this recording sounds like a big production and when I see that this young band also found the way to produce a good demo with a good artwork etc. I don't see why it shouldn't work for them. They have potential, they had the wish to release a real professional demo, and their music is good so really labels should find an interest in this band.
"Now Suffer" is a good surprise. If Oshiego is able to follow this way I think that they should find success. They have good compositions, their musicians are good (really), their music is accessible without being commercial... it's tiptop. If you like brutal music or if you just like melodic aspects in Death Metal, remember this name my friends, Oshiego is for sure a good newcomer.
