"Dragonheart" is the 3rd album of the Germans of Messiah's Kiss. Like the previous album "Metal" (yeah this band is extremely original) the new one follow a classic structure that we can find in a lot of Heavy Metal albums made in Germany. It's not original, not so impressive but not so horrible too. In fact, "Dragonheart" just suffers of its big classicism with however some better things than on the previous albums of the combo.
"Dragonheart" is not a horrible album and you know what, we can even find some real good songs like "The Ivory Gates" on this release. But (and that's a big "but"), this release suffers of its big classicism and I don't even talk about the numerous clichés that we can find on it. It's the main problem of "Dragonheart", the music is a bit average, not bad but I didn't find anything special here too and also the lyrics, the melodies, the cover are so Heavy Metal clichés that it's even fun sometime. In fact, if you liked their previous releases you'll not have any problem with this new album which just follows the direction that the band took with their previous releases. It's a bit like a routine?
On the other hand, the production of "Dragonheart" is clearly better this time and the music of the band gains a lot of power and energy. It will not change the quality of the compositions that's right but it gives something more which will please all the ones who want strong Heavy Metal. But if you need one more time to know that this album lacks of originality just have a look on its cover and maybe that some of you will discover that it's simply the same one than "Gate Of Hell" by Skylark. I can't understand how a band can do this mistake, I mean that it's a sign of a real lack of interest in the production of the album or something like that and that's a bit sad.
What can I add? "Dragonheart" is probably the best release of the band but trust me, it's easy to find better albums in the same category. It's not a bad release but after some spins you'll probably forget it. If Messiah's Kiss want to become a famous Heavy Metal band, they will have to find a real original inspiration, right now, it's not the case.
