We really had to wait a very long time for this album to see the light, 5 years to be precise, damn even my marriage died in less time for crying out loud...of course the fans of the band were invited to hear tons of splits while waiting, but most of them were really hard to find and others had a very sucky side-band. So, 5 years alright, were they worthwhile?
The quick answer would be "yes they were", but there's much more surrounding that statement; while this is a very good Goregrind album, the band sounds a little different as a whole, so it might be a good CD but it isn't a great or outstanding follow-up, their debut "Pathogenesis Infest Phlegmsepsia" was 3 times as polished and twice as grotesque as this new piece, it sounds odd but it seems that the band went few steps backwards with this album and not the other way around.
Still, the music in "Show-off Cadavers?" is more brutal than actual phagocyte dysfunctions or whatever medical term we can think of, there are tons of blast-beats, fast as hell riffs and all those things found in most of their late splits; it's also a more mature album when it comes to the layout and lyrical content, Lymphatic Phlegm went for the bizarrely scientific approach for their Gore, so instead of opening cadavers to fuck and slice the remains, they prefer to talk about the clinical and functional aspects of god knows what?it might sound a little "nerdy" but it surely works in most levels, reading the booklet is just a very interesting experience to say the least.
The imagery is also not as disgusting as before though, if you have seen that Roy Glover exhibition then this won't scare your guts, I'm not sure if those are the same figures inside this booklet but they look similar and quite juicy...so once again, their scientific and "nerdy" approach gets highlighted...
So anyway, this is a very good and entertaining Goregrind album, it might not be the amazingly intense follow-up that most of us were waiting for (we are still waiting for a human drummer too), but the music is very intense and quite raw, it's just extremely brutal metal that breaks your bowels and makes you feel sick and quite scared...it's surely a very good addition to any goregrind collection.
