One other review from Metal Mind, one other re-released album! Today I will talk about "Godfather", the last album of Elysium, from Poland, which was released in 2005. I've never heard anything about this band before today but I must admit that it's a nice discovery for me and if you like bands like The Haunted I think that you'll maybe like this band too. This is not bad definitely!

When you'll listen to this release, I'm quite sure that like me, you'll think about The Haunted. I'm maybe wrong but I think that Elysium just plays in the same category than the band from Sweden. "Godfather" is a mix of violent Thrash and Death Metal, this is one more time a melodic album but like The Haunted there is nothing so "Gothenburg", if you see what I mean, in this music. The music of Elysium is groovy as hell, thrashy and the vocals sounds Thrash when the riffs are heavy and loud too. Without being particularly original, this album has its good moments and like with The Haunted, I'm quite sure that the songs of this release will just be amazing live. It never lacks of any rhythm, the riffs are catchy and efficient, this is just perfect to headbang.

Of course I cannot say that "Godfather" is the perfect album, it's not really surprising and even if all the songs are good, I didn't find the perfect masterpiece of the genre in the CD. Though, at least this is perfectly played and really powerful. This release is this kind of album which is not transcendental but which is good to listen to and won't disappoint anybody. Plus the production of the release is perfect and can compete with all the big Swedish and American productions, really Im sure that you'll like this release if you're not only into Bay Area Thrash and also like to listen to bands like Lamb Of God.

It was a good initiative to re-release "Godfather". This album is not perfect but it's a good release and I think that Elysium is a band which deserves to be known outside of Poland. You know what to do now, if you like modern Thrash and all the crossovers between this Metal style and melodic Death Metal, I'm sure that you'll like a lot "Godfather".
