Who Needs A Throat Anyway.

All things modern hardcore. There will be no grind or sludgcore in this list in order to avoid duplicates. You will find some grind here and some sludgecore here</u>. If it is classic hardcore punk you seek, I advise you to try Lit.'s list.

- Since I moved those heavy ones, I'll need some time to rearrange and fill this up with all the hardcore goodness I said no to before.
- Order changes depending on what I am currently obsessed with

Your list suddenly tapped on my shoulder to say : " hey, you know shit about hardcore stuffs"

You mean "you don't know"? In any case, I am seriously just discovering it, I have been keeping a notebook on my findings, and I felt the need to:
1- identify the best,
2- talk about it with you guys.

From what I read in your profile, I'd advise you to start with Plebeian Grandstand. But hey, I'm not inside your head, tell me what you like in hardcore and I'll pair it with something this list.

Not really my style to self-promote like this, but I added links to each album's bandcamp page. Almost half the band have their material free for you to download in the highest quality. No excuses left .
I would also like to notify the people of the latest addition that made it directly to #5. The Psyke Project, with witch I fell in love instantly. All their discography is available for free on bandcamp. Too bad they disbanded.

Yeah, if Johan lays off the ten recommendations a day he gives me. No but I should. Actually, I will do that now. Thank your for the reminder.

That Johan. He's like an unstoppable geiser. My plesh, I don't give Converge anywhere near the attention they deserve, despite the fact they impress me every time I listen to them.

The problem is that I have another friend who has a hardcore webzine, who keeps piling up other hardcore recommendations on top of Johan's. So both my alternative sources of music are mostly "underground". And there are my own discoveries I try to dedicate most of my time to. Which makes it hard for me to cover my basics in hardcore, like Converge and the other more well-known bands.

I often find when I'm overwhelmed with recommendations I end up not listening to anything. I hate that.

Nah, not me. I find it rude not to, so I listen to everything as fast as I can. Not saying you are rude, but that's how I work. And I'm very grateful after a while, if after a couple recs followed by me giving feed-back, the person comes up with only stuff they know I'll like. I take it as a gift.

Haha, no, he's a bit special, but I like him. Our tastes are similar, but we have different preferences when it comes to production. There are many "no Johan, too raw" bands you don't see here.
But tell me, you think you can come here, comment, discuss, and joke without getting a recommendation or something. Nuh-uh. I see you just discovered Darkspace, and mentioned Lurker and Leviathan. You have to get on the Plebeian Grandstand (#6) train then .

No, wait a minute... hmmm okay, after listening to the first track I have to admit I kind of like it. Maybe a little too chaotic for me, but I didn't expect to like anything from this list initially. Hardcore is definitely outside of my comfort zone, hence why I didn't expect to enjoy it, but this is actually mainly BM I'd say, which is probably why I like it.

Yes it is chaotic, I think only half a dozen items on that list aren't. But I knew the black metal side would win you over. At least if you like LoC and other black metal acts that use and abuse of dissonance. There aren't any other similar bands on this list, but, even if it's far-fetched, Doctor Livingstone. If you check the first page of comments, you'll see a post by me with one of their youtube videos.

Yeah, doom and black metal are my favourite genres easily, but only in case of the latter I enjoy pretty much any subgenre (since there are quite a few doom subgenres I don't like), so you were right to assume I would enjoy the band you recommended. Then again, I'm fairly new to ambient/dissonant BM since for years I only really listened to melodic/symphonic BM (which I still like, but is at the moment less interesting to me). Might check out Doctor Livingstone as well, thanks.

I am checking Burning Flasks right now, but if you paid a little attention, you'd see Black Mask is #23 on this list, missy .

Edit: Okay, listened to about 15 minutes of that link, I couldn't tell how many songs there were and how many I listened to. It wasn't too bad. So I am going to get myself a copy of an album from the "black market" and I'll give you my verdict.

Burning Ghats

Yeah I just realised I had actually listened to the whole thing the other day when I gave it a second try today. It's really not bad at all, I like it, but not enough to make the list. Don't hate me. I would love it if you had more stuff like Black Mask though. I just love it when it's very heavy.
