Great Metal Bands Unfortunately Lives In The Oblivion

Created by: Blackcrowe | 06.02.2022

1. S.A. Slayer - Go For The Throat
1988 S.A.Slayer, originally known as Slayer, was an American heavy metal band formed in San Antonio, Texas in 1981 by the former Blitzkrieg (not to be confused with the UK band Blitzkrieg) guitar duo Robert "Bob Dog" Catlin and Art Villarreal, bassist Don Van Stavern, drummer Dave McClain, and vocalist Chris Cronk (Fates Warning, Jag Panzer, Karion, Talisphere, Target 7)
2. Hawaii - One Nation Underground
1983 Hawaii was an American speed metal band, formed in 1981 by former Deuce guitarist Marty Friedman, originally called Vixen.
3. Warlord - Deliver Us
1983 was an American heavy metal band, formed in 1980 and based in Los Angeles, California.
4. Witchfynde - Cloak And Dagger
1983 Witchfynde are an English heavy metal band, forerunners of the new wave of British heavy metal in the late 1970s.
5. Helstar - Burning Star
1984 Helstar began with a basic heavy metal style in 1983 with two demos, followed by their first studio album in 1984 titled Burning Star for Combat Records, making them label mates with Megadeth and Exodus.
6. Grinder - Dawn For The Living
1988 Grinder was a late 1980s/early 1990s speed metal/thrash metal band from Germany. They released three full-length albums and one EP before disbanding.
7. Hobbs’ Angel Of Death - Hobbs’ Angel Of Death
1988 Hobbs' Angel of Death were an Australian thrash metal band that began in 1987 in Melbourne, and are one of the first Australian groups to perform in that genre.
8. Savage - Loose 'N' Lethal
1983 If you know of this Mansfield band at all, chances are it’s because Metallica have covered Let It Loose, thereby making it Savage’s most renowned song. But the band’s 1983 debut album Loose ‘N’ Lethal is among the very finest examples of British metal from that era.
9. Picture - Heavy Metal Ears
1981 For a time in the early ‘80s, Picture were on the verge of leading Holland into an exciting era of metal. Formed in 1979, their first two albums Picture 1 (1980) and Heavy Metal Ears (1981) were thrusting, heavy and had a cutting edge British sound.
10. Necromandus - Orexis Of Death
1973 A band that was once managed by Mr. Tony Iommi himself, Necromandus originally worked between 1970 and 1973. Although they had a big future ahead of them, things just didn't work out. The story also goes that Ozzy Osbourne wanted to hire some of the Necromandus members for his Blizzard of Ozz project. Bob Daisley did mention unknown drummer and a guitar player in some of the early rehearsals, but it's not sure whether these were the Necromandus guys.
11. Sortilège - Larmes De Héros
1986 favorite french record; this is as good as it will ever get!  It is almost insane to even begin to think how Sortilege was capable of producing such memorable tracks like the melodic chorus-oriented “Mourir Pour Une Princesse” or the epic ballad “Quand un Aveugle Rêve”.
12. White Spirit - White Spirit
1980 were an English heavy metal band from Hartlepool, England, best remembered for guitarist Janick Gers who went on to play with Ian Gillan, Bruce Dickinson, and ultimately, Iron Maiden.
13. Pariah - Blaze Of Obscurity
1989 UK Heavy Thrash Metal
14. Pokolgép - Pokoli Színjáték
1987 Hungarian Metal
15. Flash Point - No Point Of Reference
1987 Heavy Speed Metal UK Band
16. Lucifer's Friend - Lucifer's Friend
1970 Now, this is a quality name for a heavy metal band, especially knowing that Lucifer's Friend were formed back in 1970 when such a label was considered controversial. Coming from Germany, their self-titled debut album was pretty revolutionary for the times. Not to mention the uncanny cover artwork. Also, notice how some parts of the opening track resemble Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song."
17. Tension US - Breaking Point
1986 Great Thrash Metal band ^Breaking Point^ was release on Combat records alongside Exodus and Megadeth at the time.
18. Mordred - Fool's Game
1989 Mordred is an American funk metal/thrash metal band based in the San Francisco Bay Area. In their initial career, they released three studio albums and one EP from 1989 to 1994. The album Fool's Game (1989) meets the Bay Area thrash spirit, while The Next Room is more akin a Faith No More album.
19. Wrath - Nothing To Fear
1987 Wrath is an American progressive thrash metal band founded in 1982.
20. Axe - Nemesis
1983 formed in 1979 and disbanded in 2012. The band is best known for their 1982 song "Rock 'N' Roll Party in the Streets", and had other hits such as "Now or Never", "I Think You'll Remember Tonight" and "Heat in the Street"
21. Crossfire - See You In Hell
1985 Crossfire, along with Killer and Ostrogoth of Mausoleum Records, were the most important Belgian heavy metal bands of the 1980s.
22. Fist - Turn The Hell On
1980 Fist are an English heavy metal band founded in South Shields, North East England in 1978.[1] Fist were one of the original bands that were considered to be part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
23. Child’s Play - Rat Race
1990 Rat Race is the debut studio album by hard rock/heavy metal band Child'ƨ Play, released in 1990 through Chrysalis Records. It was produced by Howard Benson, who would later go on to produce for Motörhead, Sepultura, and Seether.
24. Battleaxe - Burn This Town
1983 Heavy Metal from England
25. Tytan - Rough Justice
1985 Another great NWOBHM
26. Zebra - Zebra
1983 Hard Heavy Rock The group initially was a cover band, playing Led Zeppelin and other technically proficient rock groups such as Yes, Jethro Tull, and Pink Floyd.
27. Holy Moses - Queen Of Siam
1986 Holy Moses is a German thrash metal band active from 1980 to 1994 and again since 2000. They are well noted for being fronted by Sabina Classen, who is the only constant member of Holy Moses, and for being one of the first German thrash metal bands. Holy Moses have released 12 studio albums.
28. Cyclone - Brutal Destruction
1986 Belgian Thrash influenced by the likes of Anthrax and Exodus. They released their debut, Brutal Destruction, in 1986, and opened for Anthrax, Overkill and Agent Steel that same year. In 1990
29. Pestilence - Malleus Maleficarum
1988 progressive death-metal masters Pestilence aren't forgotten by any stretch of the imagination, but few remember that they started out as a thrash band. You can hear the influence of Metallica, Slayer and Exodus all over the band's 1988 .
30. Messiah - Hymn To Abramelin
1986 Great Swiss Metal
31. Cyclone Temple - My Friend Lonely
2009 Cyclone Temple was an American thrash metal band formed from the remnants of Znöwhite, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Great addition from one of the suggestions never hear it before Technical Thrash Groove Progressive Metal
32. Enola Gay - F.O.T.H
1995 Great Power Metal band from Germany really surprised to see in the suggestions.

Well, in the age of the internet, we are lucky to know bands from all over the world so a band like Sortilege is not unknown anymore. Also Chuck Schuldiner was seen wearing a Sortilège T-shirt so a lot of people got curious about that and tried to listen to the band. He even borrowed one of their riffs in a song, I forgot which though.

There's some bands in your list that I need to check out, some I've never heard of and some are already in my overlong "gonna-give-a-listen"-list.

I don't want to be that guy but I wouldn't classify Axe as a metal band. Great band with some of my favourite melodic rock songs but not metal and i'm not sure how forgotten they are. In melodic rock/AOR circles they are often mentioned.

Yes you are right it’s like Blue Oyster Cult, Journey and Molly Hatchet some hard rock melodic, but in nemesis you can find a heavy melodic version of the band. I think Axe with this artwork lyrics and songs can classify in the way hard melodic.
