At first i wasn't too fond of this album, but its definitely a grower. There are still thrash influences evident around the album, but ccrazy swedes had delivered something phenomenal in this. Maaaaad.

At first I thought this was pretty shit, then I became a drummer. Oh my god how wrong I was.

This one is a little overrated. It was fresh and it was something a little different however a lot of the songs on the album are uninteresting, most of them copy the template of 'Future Breed Machine' but with different riffs. What is interesting on this album are the interludes with atmospheric outer-worldly sounds like the intro of 'Beneath' and the entirety of 'Acrid Placidity' as well as 'Sub Levels', also the solo on 'Future Breed Machine' is very special indeed, Thordendal conjures up the Breed Machine itself.

I still can't believe that this album was released in 1995. For some reason, I can shake the feeling that it seems way ahead of its time.

I listened to this album 2 years ago and did not like it at all, mainly because of those vocals. Thanks God I got used to this sort of vocals (and music it self). There is still one thing about thus album which I think is shitty: the cover is really bad, not unlike the rest of their cover photos. Probably one of the worst bands when it comes to album covers after manowar

It's a great album, I agree. I wonder what you think of the I EP then. To me, that's Meshuggah's defining moment.

I love that album as well, but it doesn't match this album IMO. The guitar tone and the synchronised vocal syncopation on this album is just sublime. Also, I feel as if this album is more...visceral and varied. The I EP is still great tho!

The music's pretty neat for the most part on this album, but I really hate his vocals on this record. They're a lot more listenable on later albums, but so trying here. Bit of a shame cos the music's pretty radical a lot of the time, even if not everything lands. Either 2nd or 3rd of theirs behind obZen and maybe Chaosphere
