On par with if not better than Death's debut. The 3 bonus tracks are way too awesome and a must listen for anyone. I say even better than the original tracks.

Every bit as murky and malicious as its successor, 'Mental Funeral', 'Severed Survival' is one of the best ways to begin a death metal career. This contains more talent than some so-called modern death metal band generate in their whole career.

Amazing stuff. Mental Funeral is just very, very slightly better. Both albums, Severed and Mental, are very catchy.
