Legendary death metal veterans Dying Fetus are back with their most appropriately titled album to date: Reign Supreme. Not unusually different from their traditional war/gore themes, this time around the title applies more to what the band is doing as opposed to what they want to do.

I realized after I posted.

I think it's a lot less technical that their previous release, kinda going back to their roots.

but yeah... it's just one song.

Good shit.

Listening to this in full now...getting prepped for the show next week. Straight-forward, tight as hell, and slammin', groovin' death metal with great tech death guitar fills at it's most precise. The drums are faster than I ever remember and seem to hit harder. The production is top-notch.

Rating: 10 Just got the deluxe album in the mail, I have only listened a few tracks in and so far its really fuckin! brutal. Dying Fetus did not disappoint this fan

Agreed! I've been jamming this album back to back for the last couple days and it's freakin' amazing, I am definitely not disappointed in any way...

Rating: 10 One of the best albums so far in this year. And one of the best Dying Fetus material in their career. "In The Trenches" owns.

Still brushing up on your trolling lessons I see. You'll get there eventually though, don't worry. Probably just in time for another Internet fad to start.

musicalkaratekid - 15.08.2012 at 22:27
Rating: 9 Excellent album, everything runs so smoothly yet the brutality is still there. The band's use of technical styles contributes well to their placement of scything riffs in virtaully every song. 'Invert the Idols' is one hell of a good opener as well.
J. N. - 20.08.2012 at 22:00

Rating: 9 This suprised me...There isn't too much Technical Death metal bands who can be technical and brutal enough at the same time.
Dr.Overkill - 15.06.2014 at 05:34
My only complaint on this album is that the production feels to clean, too inhuman. I feel like the production on Descend Into Depravity, or let alone Suffocation Effigy of the Forgotten is more hard-hitting, it sounds more Bottom heavy, more human and less perfect.

I actually like the production - it allows you to fully injest those meaty riffs without them being swallowed up by the drums and wall of noise that a lot of brutal DM suffers from. Basically it makes the album infinitely more accessible and listenable IMO.

It's the same reason why my favourite Pig Destroyer album is Book Burner.

I'll Give it another listen with That in mind. For now I stand by what I said. Also I haven't listened to That pig Destroyer album yet, Not to worry I tend to listen to a TON of Grindcore in the Fall, So I'll probably be getting way into Pig Destroyer, Napalm Death, Terrorizer and other Grind bands when the fall rolls around.

Never heard of autumn grindcore before!

Personally I like symphonic Black ala Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir in winter (especially cold wet nights) and glam and grunge in summer.

I much prefer winter to some summer with it's scorching temperatures.

I catched them when they just released it (bought it right there actually)... It's only because of that concert that I decided to check more of their stuff.
Shit was insane.

Yeah I've been a fan since I saw them twice in a week. It made a huge difference in how I perceive them.

What period would that be? That comment up there was about 2008.

Rating: 8 I saw them sometime around 2006 or 2007, back when they had Mike Kimball. I saw them again after he left and they were lacking a bit. Still always fun to see them though
