Question: what makes a great band? Answer: great albums! So after the not really well acclaimed "Vain Glory Opera", the German power metal band Edguy had to reach another level of quality to interest the masses. Well, 1999's "Theater Of Salvation", the title says it all. That was the album that made them enter the very protected circle of famous power metal bands. Leaded by their extravagant front man and singer Tobias Sammet, this young band played a traditional power metal. However, their songs are something more complex than the usual cliches about power metal

I've barely even remembered this album for most of my metal listening life, it's forgettable, it's easy to neglect because there's not a single superb song. I suppose the songwriting is alright, but I don't feel like listening to the songs again.

Too much flower, NOT enough power.

I need to say that you haven't listened to this album or you are mistaking it with another one. Your opinion is your own right but I am here to argue about the facts. There is no bloody flower here man, it's full of power, speed and it's epic.
If I take Manowar as an example (based on your picture), Blackwind, Fire and Steel (which is one of Manowar's fastest songs), doesn't come close to Babylon. They also have an epic, the title track, at 12:24 which one of the finer pieces of metal out there.

Sure I have listened to it, not 1000 times but enough to hear as much as I need to make a conclusion about it. I am not interested in facts, because there is as much "facts" as there are people who have listened the album; the existence is subjective not objective phenomenon. I am here just to point out how this music compares to what I've heard before.

Who am I to argue with someone who preaches true metal?
My only point here was to make people aware that your comment is not precise, specially the flower labeling which is all by itself funny and ridiculous.

It sounds totally flower album to me: super melodic, high pitched vocals, guitar sound is not heavy at all, more focus on leads than riffs, keyboards, fantasy lyrics(?), etc. And if you compare this to other flower acts like Freedom Call, Stratovarius, Hammerfall, Sonata Arctica, where's the difference?

I don't think there's an argument at all, I'm not here to influence anyone or change anyones views or opinions. What my reason to be here is about is to share my takes on these albums so that -- maybe -- people have something else than only their own opinion to look at.

And I'm not preaching about true metal. I say good things about true bands, semi-true bands, and non-true bands.

A Nice Guy
A decent album, but far from their best imo, most of the songs are decent, but nothing really that special, obviously "Babylon" "The Headless Game" and "The Unbeliever" are the standout tracks. "Another Time" was a boring ballad to me, and should of been left out of the album completely, and "Land Of The Miracle", which is often regarded as one of Edguy's best songs, did nothing for me. The title track was good but not as memorable as other epic tracks Edguy has done.

The first half of this album is very lackluster IMO, The Headless Game is pretty good but the rest is average power metal. Luckily from Falling Down it gets better and the second half is pretty strong. It resembles a lot the first Avantasia record. Once again they wanted to make a long track in form of a 14 minute title track, even if it's better than The Kingdom I don't think it's anything special.
