After one listen I have to say I am not 100% convinced Anneke is the right voice for this album.
Last track is pretty reminiscent of modern Anathema.

Giving a few more spins before rating.

This is Stream of Passion v2.0... less orchestration perhaps and almost no progressive elements in my opinion. The album is Ok though.

I think it's alright, it's a good showcase of Anneke's voice but the backing music isn't all that inventive. Does it's job but it's nowhere near The Gathering or her solo stuff

Oh relieved I'm not the only one thinking Annekes voice is not fitted for this sound... Her current singing way w/ a warm voice is better in more folkis/celtic music like the Gentle Storm or pop rock like the latter era of the Gatheirng.

Why mention Streams Of Passion here? The only thing Vuur and Streams Of Passion have in common is that Vuur's bass player Johan van Stratum used to play in Streams Of Passion. Musically the two are nothing alike. Vuur is way more metal and heavier than Streams Of Passion.

You maybe missed the fact that Marcela Bovio was in their ranks originally...

I personally find that the vocals in several songs are the typical melodies you would hear Marcela singing in Stream of Passion, like it was written for/by her.

On the other hand, it's not truly that heavy and the peace is quite calm in general. Add some piano lines and string ensembles and you'll get... you know what I mean

I indeed forgot that the band orignally had two vocalists. But I doubt the vocal lines were specifically for her since it Vuur was always first and foremost an Anneke band. Vuur never even recorded with Marcela (maybe only some rehearsals but that would be it) and never performed with her.

I was so full of expectations for this...
I just listened to the bits that iTunes allows you to listen to, as I generally do just to check the "sound" of an album, a very important thing for me, and I have to admit that it didn't get me at all...
Now I see all these lukewarm impressions, and I don't feel like buying this album at all.
And I actually had the feeling that something was missing, or simply the voice did not fit the rest of the music, I don't know.
I'm going to wait for a while and I will think about it.

I understood that there were disagreements between Anneke and Marcela about vocals from the start and that Marcela preferred to step down to avoid things to go sour between them. In the meantime Marcela has joined MaYan.

I hoped for more. To me sounds unfinished, like demo stage. Maybe the next album will be better. I like this the least of her work.

Total yawn fest with the most overrated female singer ever. I feel tempted to review this and give it a 4.

I'd say go for it but... then You'd be giving this project more attention than they deserve. Totally boring indeed.

I had such high hopes for this project by Anneke, but sadly I couldn't get through half the album. I think every song lacks a certain atmosphere, and that Anneke's voice doesn't seem to "blend" well with the music. Maybe it's because I had been expecting something more similar to the The Gathering's earlier works.

I was really excited for this - but yeah, wow, this is bland. Very little inspiration here. It sounds like a group of guys who felt like they could slap Anneke's vocals over top of bland guitar hooks and it would somehow make the music good. I honestly can't recall one memorable moment on this entire album - it's like elevator prog.
