Gast was started in 2015 with then only members Fredrik and Joel. The intention with Gast was to go back to some of the old paces of structure from the 90s, emphasis on the lyrics being Swedish and try to add something of their own. A demo was recorded in early 2016 which contained two songs only. Shortly thereafter, Mikaela joined and then Johan in late 2017.

During 2017 more material was written and an album took shape. The album was recorded during 2017-2018 in their own studio, mixed and sent to mastering at Obey Mastering in Uppsala.

The band made contact with Black Market Metal Label and the album Mörkret Kallar was released on January 25, 2019, on CD.
