Biography

ORDUM is an extreme, progressive, and experimental band from Beirut, Lebanon. Formed in 2001 under the name of Gothmog, the band's mission was to create a palette of extreme metal music away from the restraints of being labeled under the typical black metal genre.

In 2003, with a collection of songs at hand, the band set to try and record an extended demo. But due to bad synergy amongst some of the band members, this resulted in several failed attempts at getting into a studio. The band later disbanded in early 2004.

But after several years of inactivity, the remaining members from the original line-up (John Bakhos, Walid Shougary, and Riad Hajjar) got together in late 2008 and decided to continue where they left off, but only as a side-project to allow time for them to pursue other musical interests. This fresh start led them to immediately change the name of the band to ORDUM.

With Walid on vocals, John on guitars, and Riad on drums, the band went straight to work. The process to begin recording the debut became challenging, but the band overcame all obstacles and entered the 'The Silex' studios in 2010. Long overdue, ORDUM's debut album 'The Circle' was digitally released in early 2011 to much critical acclaim across the region. But such success was to be short lived as Riad announced his departure from the band the following year.

Despite his departure, John and Walid decided to forge ahead and begin work on ORDUM's next opus. More news and information about the line-up and music will soon be unveiled in the coming months.
