Biography

Heonia is a melodic metal band from the north of France. The band was set up in January 2006 by Thomas and Marieke.

They wrote Heonia's first two pieces while still actively searching for musicians to complete the band. These first pieces define Heonia's style of music - powerful melodic metal with touches of prog and death - female vocals combining strength and softness supported by aggressive death metal voices.

Once the line-up was complete, Heonia made its music known to a wider audience through numerous gigs among which - opening for Kells, Misanthrope, To-Mera or The Old Dead Tree.

In November 2008, Heonia released its first EP Simulacra which was entirely self-produced. In spite of this, the EP enjoyed favorable reviews and was well received by audiences when played live.

Heonia continued on the logical path of its artistic development and recorded its debut album in 2009 with the aim of enabling more people to discover its musical universe through a professional sound. Winsome Scar was released in September 2010; its sound is rather dark, melodic and progressive. In 2011, the band presented Winsome Scar to metal webzines and to its audience. Most of the feedback received was positive.

After numerous gigs until the end of 2013, Heonia focused its attention on the composition of its second album and released its first music video "The Dis Is Cast" recorded at Noise Factory Studio and directed by Rems Design. Heonia's second album was recorded at Noise Factory Studio during July 2014 and will be released at the beginning of 2015. The band is already preparing several gigs for the end of 2014 and for 2015 to promote this new opus.
