The band have not received any royalties for the reissues of their albums in the 90s and 00s, even when the publishers have been paid.
In their formative years, the musicians in Quartz performed as the backing band of soul singer Jimmy Helms for about a year. Jimmy had a hit single, "Gonna Make You An Offer You Can't Refuse" in 1973.
Reformed to play a charity gig at The Asylum in Birmingham in December 2011, with four of the original members and David Garner on vocals. They also played the Keep It True and Muskelrock festivals in 2013.
Keyboard player Geoff Nichols played with Black Sabbath for 23 years.
Quartz initially performed in the midlands cabaret clubs as Bandy Legs, and signed to Jet Records in 1976, releasing their first single, "Bet You Can't Dance", under that name. They switched to Quartz in time for their debut album, produced by Tony Iommi and Chris Tsangarides.
