Carcass - N. American Live Dates

Carcass will return to the United States this March for the "Exhumed To Consume II" tour. The follow up to last years highly successful "Exhume To Consume" tour will feature Suicide Silence, Samael, Arsis and Psycroptic plus a few special guests on select dates.

Vocalist/bassist and all around optimistic person Jeff Walker commented: "Well, I'm pleased to announce that Carcass is gonna settle it's unresolved scores in the U.S.! That's doesn't mean we're not gonna come through and provide some value for your buck with some old (and new) school friends and comrades such as Suffocation, Samael, The Black Dahlia Murder, Exodus, Suicide Silence etc. - check out locally as for who is on the bill where! And hey, I couldn't think of anywhere better to be on my 40th birthday than the Sunshine Theatre in Albuquerque, New Mexico! We promise this will be the last time we darken your shores (I said that with my fingers crossed behind my back)!"

Carcass - Announce Last Show Ever

Reunited grindcore/death metal legends Carcasss will play their only UK date headlining the Damnation Festival 2008. The death metal legends will perform their first show on home soil in 14 years on Saturday, November 22nd at Leeds University. And the band yesterday hinted it could be the last show they ever play, wrapping up a successful reunion tour headlining some of the biggest metal stages across the globe.

Frontman Jeff Walker said: "Well, we enjoyed making you sweat? this is gonna be the ONLY UK show this year, and quite possibly your last chance to EVER catch us live! You Southerners are gonna have to get your shoes dirty and make your way 'oop' North to Leeds! To quote Herschell Gordon Lewis 'Prepare To Die!'"

Damnation Festival director Gavin McInally added: "The exclusive booking of Carcass is the biggest coup in British metal in 2008 and we're delighted to host their return to home soil. The fact that it could be the last time they ever take the stage together, makes the prospect of seeing them headline Damnation even more special. After a 14-year break, it's almost impossible to predict just how large the demands for tickets will be, so without the cheesy sales pitch, pawn your wedding ring or steal from close friends - just make sure you grab a brief! And stayed tuned for further announcements as the finest, doom, grind, black, rock and heavy metal completes what will be the finest day of music the UK will witness in 2008."

Tickets for Damnation will go on sale this Friday, June 27th at 9am. For more information, you can check here.

Carcass - Confirmed For Wacken 2008

Carcass are the latest band to be confirmed for Wacken Open Air 2008, this is how the band commented:

"Well, they said it would never happen. In fact I said it would never happen. Then I noticed no one pays attention to what I say anyway and I sounded like an idiot...

Summer 2008 will be the twentieth anniversary since the release of Carcass' first studio album. It will be fourteen years since we last played live. We've decided to exhume the old corpse next Summer at Wacken. The timing is purely coincidental - it's been a long journey to get to this point where myself, Bill Steer and Mike Amott have enough common desire again to make it possible. We're finally conceding to the demand that seems to be at an all time high and doesn't appear to be going away any time soon. Any past reasons we may have had for not wanting to do it, or thinking it was impossible, have simply dissipated in the face of overwhelming interest in us performing THOSE riffs for a generation of believers who never had the opportunity back in the day. We could say we're doing it for 'the kids' - but fuck that ! We're doing it 'cos it will be fun again to play the classic Carcass tunes !! Of course it would seem inappropriate for us to contemplate to do this without Ken Owen, but I assure you he'll be there, and we'll push some sticks in his hands and make him play, plus we'll have a killer drummer to sit in and play HIS parts.

Myself Jeff Walker on bass and vocals, "the semi-legendary" Bill Steer and Mike Amott on lead guitar and Daniel Erlandsson, filling in for Ken on drums, look forwards to mutilating your hearing.

And if we don't do it ? Who else will overshadow the Led Zeppelin reunion ?

Ha !

Prepare to rot and roll."

Carcass - Will Reunite For A Tour

Former Carcass guitarist Mike Amott (currently in Arch Enemy) has revealed that the legendary U.K. death metal band might reunite for a tour.

In an exclusive interview with Sweden's Close-Up magazine, Amott said that he and guitarist/vocalist Bill Steer secretly met in Halmstad, Sweden last year to rehearse old Carcass material. A couple of months later, they were joined by vocalist/bassist Jeff Walker for another practice session. Arch Enemy's Daniel Erlandsson was handling the drum duties at these rehearsals.

"It sounded really good and it was a lot of fun," said Amott. "We rehearsed pretty much the entire 'Heartwork' album ."

The original plan was for Carcass to play several festival shows this summer, but that fell through.

"I hope we can do some reunion shows at a later date," explained Amott. "It would be a lot of fun and I'd love to play the songs live again. Unfortunately, it can't happen until 18 months from now, at the earliest, because Arch Enemy has a totally full schedule. It's different for the other guys who don't work as actively on their music careers."

Have you discussed writing new songs?

"To write something new seems unnecessary. People still only want to hear the old stuff," said Amott.

After the "Heartwork" tour, Mike Amott left Carcass. The band then released the appropriately titled album "Swansong" (1996).

What did you think of "Swansong" when it came out?

"I wasn't a fan of it," Mike replied. "But we actually rehearsed a couple of songs from it last year and they sounded pretty good. I think the production partly ruined it. It sounded sparse and basically all the extreme stuff that characterized Carcass was gone. It felt boring."

Have the other members of Carcass heard Arch Enemy?

"Jeff has flat-out said that he thinks we suck," Amott stated. "Bill is not into that kind of music. I think the guys left the metal world as it was in the middle of the '90s and haven't thought about it since. It seems they think it's a little bizarre that I'm still doing the metal thing full-on."

Original Carcass drummer Ken Owen suffered a brain hemorrhage in 1999 and was hospitalized for ten months, slowly emerging from a coma.

"Ken is doing fine today, but he's not a metal drummer," Amott explained. "He's not capable of playing entire concerts with an extreme band like Carcass. I still hope that he, if we do a tour, will travel with us and play a couple of songs each night."
