Slipknot - Free Webcast Of Sonisphere Show

Slipknot has announced a special real-time webcast of their Knebworth performance via their website to take place during their headline set at 9:00pm GMT (4:00pm Eastern/1:00pm Pacific) on Sunday, July 10th.

To tune in visit Slipknot1.com.

The webcasting of Slipknot's historic Sunday night headline set live across the world from Knebworth, will go out live on Slipknot1.com as well as Sonispherefestivals.com. Set to be an epic and emotional occasion, this highly anticipated show will mark the band's first appearance in the UK in over two years and their first British performance without founding member Paul Gray, who tragically passed away last year.

The band said of the upcoming performance: "England has always been a special place for this band from the very beginning. We can't think of a better way to culminate our celebration of Paul's life than to share it with the Maggots at Knebworth and the millions more watching around the world. This is not to be missed."

Says festival producer Stuart Galbraith: "This is the first time Sonisphere Festival has been transmitted live across the web and represents yet another major stride in its commitment to harnessing the power of the internet to engage with the rock audience at large across the planet. Given that this is going to be such an important event for Slipknot fans the world over, we felt it only right to allow them all to share in what is set to be a historic experience, wherever they are."

The Sonisphere show on July 10 will be the last on this current tour for Slipknot, which is performing for the first time without Gray. The band's future beyond this run of shows is unclear.

Gray passed away in May 2010 from an accidental overdose of drugs, leaving behind his wife Brenna and daughter October, who was born the following August.

Slipknot - Recruit Touring Bassist

For their upcoming shows in 2011, Slipknot has asked Donnie Steele to fill in on bass for the late Paul Gray.

Donnie, as some may recall, was the original guitar player in Slipknot and had actually reconnected with Paul in recent years.

Commented the band on their decision: "Donnie was in the band at the very beginning, and rather than get an outsider, we thought it would be a fitting tribute to Paul to play with someone from within the family. Donnie was great friends with Paul and we can't think of a better way to celebrate his memory than with someone who was there with us at the very beginning. The eight of us are looking forward to being onstage again and honoring Paul's legacy with our families in Europe and Brazil this summer."

Paul Gray was found dead in a hotel room in a Des Moines, Iowa suburb last May at the age of 38 from an overdose of morphine.

The video depicts the nine members rocking out in groups of three and submerged in water one at a time. The video concept was modeled after a video installation by Bill Viola called "Ascension" that's currently on display at the Des Moines Arts Center. The tour, which kicks off on January 23rd in St. Paul, MN, will hit 33 cities across the country, and include an historic stop at New York's Madison Square Garden, a first for the band. Coheed and Cambria and labelmates Trivium round out the bill.

Frontman Corey Taylor says of the trek, "2009 is the 10 year anniversary of the world's first taste of this band. To celebrate we are coming back out with a killer tour, a couple great bands and the same ferocity with which we attack life. To celebrate the tour, Hard Drive, hosted by Lou Brutus will be airing a Slipknot "All Hope is Gone World Tour" Special from December 3rd-6th on radio stations all across the country. The special will feature exclusive live tracks from their current tour as well as candid interviews and other surprises.
