Autopsy - Announce New Releases

Autopsy have been prolific in terms of new releases in the last few years since they reformed and this year is no exception. The group is set to return with a double-bill of unbridled horror this year on Peaceville Records, including their latest new material since last year's acclaimed opus, Tourniquets, Hacksaws And Graves. Commencing with After The Cutting on November 13th, this is a special limited release containing an expansive book penned by Dennis Dread recounting the careers of the gore legends, featuring unseen photos and exclusive artwork, accompanied by four discs brimmed full of classics, new tracks and previously unheard rarities from the band's own archive. This will be followed by Skull Grinder, containing 7 new tracks (also featured on After The Cutting) and releasing on vinyl to coincide with this year's Black Friday on November 27th.

The band states: "We at Autopsy HQ are pleased to have the opportunity to once again torture your minds and ear holes through the medium of recorded brutality. The band went back to Fantasy Studios in Berkeley in late July to record a brand new release called Skull Grinder. Musically, it's just what you'd expect from us; no style changes, wimp outs, sell outs, settling down or caving in. Add to that acknowledgement of the obvious, some of Wes Benscoter's sickest art yet to (dis)grace the cover, and you have a new sledgehammer to the bowels with no apologies offered whatsoever. In case that isn't enough to bring the taste of bile into the back of your throat, let it be known that there is also a four-disc set on the way titled After The Cutting, packed with hours of horrifying music, cover art from none other than Kev Walker as well as an extensive book written by Dennis Dread, riddled with interviews, photos and other assorted uncleanliness. The release date for both of these monstrosities is slated for this coming November. More details are forthcoming..."

Pre-orders are available for both releases here.

Live dates for 2015:
October 10th - California Death Fest - Oakland Metro, Oakland, CA
October 23rd and 24th - Reggie's Rock Club - Chicago, IL

Autopsy is also set to appear at Philip Anselmo's Housecore Horror Festival this year, to take place November 13th-15th.

Generic concepts but actually really nice artworks; they're well drawn and stylised. I like the second one especially.

I've always loved Autopsy's covers. They are way better done than most other death metal bands of this style and are quite entertaining to look at. Other than Shitfun that is.

That was my reaction as well. I really enjoy Autopsy, even their latest stuff... And I know I should never expect anything new BUT I always get a "...nice!" moment every time I look at their covers.
The second one is fucking ace. The large head of the one on the right makes me think of an Alien-doctor!

Definitely. Like a human / Alien hybrid. Not unlike this lovely fella from Alien Re-suck-rection.

I remember when I finally watched the whole series (minus alien vs predator because I have a soul)... I actually didn't find it THAT bad. I guess all the criticism made me expect something worse.
Also, I have a crush on Winona Ryder

ANYWAY back on topic.... Honest question here: So the one with the cooler artwork should be considered a compilation. Wonder what the one with 7 tracks would be labeled as.
A full length? Or maybe an EP if it's short.

It actually isn't that bad, you're right. Quite watchable if you don't expect too much of it. I also rewatched the series through fairly recently (also minus the AvPs because fuck those) and I came to the realisation I prefer the Assembly Cut version of Alien 3 to Aliens. But yeah, that's pretty off topic.

Past the covers, I hope the music's even better. Autopsy have certainly been on a roll lately and, even if it's likely just a collection of one-offs, I'm hoping this continues.

The last few Autopsy albums have been pretty killer in my opinion, especially the vocals. Alien Resurrection is a pretty bad movie but I fucking love it for some reason, the death of Ripley's alien baby-whatever was spectacular.
