Max And Igor Cavalera - To Play 'Roots' In Its Entirety

Former Sepultura members Max Cavalera (guitar, vocals) and Igor Cavalera (drums) plan to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band's classic album, Roots, by performing the album in its entirety on a U.S. tour later this year. The Brazilian brothers were both founding members of Sepultura but now join forces in Cavalera Conspiracy.

Speaking to PlanetMosh in Northern Ireland, Max said: "Actually, this is twenty years of the Roots album, so [Igor and I] are planning to play the whole Roots record. I think we're doing it in the States. Hopefully we'll come to Europe as well, playing the whole record. And then I'm gonna work with him to try to work on some new tunes for a new Cavalera. I think this time we're gonna actually use a real producer; I don't know who yet."

He added: "I like all three Cavalera albums. I think Pandemonium [2014] was definitely the heaviest, but Inflikted [2008] was actually my favorite; it was the first one we did. So I wanna continue that with Igor. I love my brother and I love playing with him."

I wouldn't call it "bad" quality, per se, just low budget.

that's also, but still what I hate in metal are garage demo worshiping, cassettes, drum programing's and low budgets , DM is worst when it comes whit home recordings

Please don't!!
I'm a huge Sepultura fan but Roots in its entiery is a torture. "Roots Bloody Roots" is the only very good track on it, with "Ratamahatta" or "Attitude" if you dig well. The real Triforce is Beneath The Remains/Arise/Chaos AD.

what this guy said, but seriously hopefully having a producer for a new CC album would get them in line

There's a few tracks on Roots I actually like in addition to Roots Bloody Roots. Spit is one of my favourite songs of all time period - excellent little punk thrash number. Dusted, Straighthate, Ratamahhata, Attitude and even Lookaway are all great.

There is some filler in the album though and I think Arise would've been the better choice personally but still don't see Roots as that bad.

Never jumped on the opportunities to do this for Beneath The Remains, or Arise, or Chaos AD, did they? Nah, it's Roots. Let's give Roots the 20th Anniversary live playthrough. It's easily the crown jewel of what they did in Sepultura

It was their commercial peak and they got a lot of positive commentary about it when it came out. It was regarded as ground breaking at the time by the mainstream metal press (and even some non-metal ones).

Also bare in mind, current projects like Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy appeal more to mainstream metal fans than "Arise/Beneath The Remains" worshipping underground types. So Roots or Chaos A.D. makes more sense given their target audience.

Like all these anniversary play throughs, money talks.

What is with this "underground worshipping types" bullshit. Schizo/Beneath/Arise/Chaos A.D. are ALL BETTER than Roots period! Has NOTHING to do with "underground worshipping" whatsoever. Take 100 Sepultura fans and see what album is chosen as their favorite all time. Won't be Roots! Roots Bloody Roots is the only really good song on the album. The rest is just a pre-cursor to the beyond boring flood of 7 string "low end" bands that all sounded the same.

Thanks for proving my point.

Roots was Sepultura's biggest album of all time - number 27 in the Billboard charts and mainstream critical acclaim (compare to 119 for Arise and 32 for Chaos A.D.). Arise will attract metalheads, whereas Roots will attract a far bigger audience in terms of more mainstream hard rock/metal fans.

By the way Arise is my favourite album so no horse in this race.
