An open letter to Arch Enemy. Dear Arch Enemy, Back where I come from we have this saying; "You can only hate Arch Enemy, if you hate having fun". So obviously I was pretty excited when I heard you were releasing your first studio effort in over six years (unless you want to count the utter abomination that was Rise Of The Tyrant[i], which I kind of don't). While the technical skill of this band is always impressive, there's nothing new or interesting that this album brings to the table. The songwriting just felt really stale to me, there wasn't really anything on this album that I felt I hadn't already heard on the last album, unfortunately.

The first half's rather poor, except for No Gods, No Masters, but it picks up from track 7, although I reckon Thorns In My Flesh should have been the album closer.

I seriously don't get the people who rated this a a 2 or 3. Come on guys, it's definitely not THAT bad. In fact, more often than not, it's pretty good actually. Very high on the "melody" aspect and less on brutality, this might be a slightly more accessible album to new fans. Older fans like me still like it and enjoy it, so can't ask for more.
