What you going to hear about is,

"The Maryland doom from Finland and their musicians are the proud bearers of Sabbathian riffs."

Welcome to Reactor, the 4-piece stoner rockers hailing from Finland, who put their collective thoughts into their debut, Gravity, in 2011. They simply churn out crusty rock riffs with edgy, thick bass and mellow vocals pounded by drumming, which encapsulates an hour-long disc on a fine line of stoner rock music.

To start things off, the band eases out on softer tracks, giving a tremendous display of variations and molding listeners to be captivated by hooky rock riffs with the soft vocals of Tommi ("Ridicule" and "Flicker"). Suddenly, kicking in with "Wanderers," the band drifts off to another direction, dropping the doom-ish style of linear notes while cutting-edge riffs take center stage, which emulates Kyuss's Blues For The Red Sun, Spiritual Beggars's Mantra III or Red Fang's self-titled album. I'll go on record and say that that track is one of the highlights of Gravity. Then it carries the momentum nicely, exhibiting a grunge sound with crunching, doom-y riffs and a few notes of Kurt Cobain-esque singing in "Gravity" and "Rabbit Hole," which actually makes the second half of the record a bit interesting and appealing. The incredible work of Kaivu cannot be ignored, considering he pulled back and forth in deviating structures of different songs.

Well, these Finlanders have started tremendously with the sound they wanted to enact and are hungry for more. With a new record in the pipeline, I hope they pushed their limits considering the fact that their peers doing absolutely fantastically.

Fans of Kyuss, Red Fang, The Sword or Spiritual Beggars will have a great time.

Just give it a listen over here.
